Getting started¶
Lyra is a modding platform for the Zune HD. You install it once, and from then on the device
loads it on every boot, with a Mods entry on the home screen for adding and managing mods.
There is no host tether after the install and no repeat of the exploit step.
Installing gets you an on-device way to browse a mod repository and install as you like. Everything here targets the Zune HD on firmware 4.5.
These pages cover the path from a stock device:
- Install Lyra covers the one-time install and what to expect on the device.
- Installing mods covers adding a mod and enabling or disabling what is installed.
- Mods tab covers the on-device surface for browsing the repository and managing mods.
- Build from source is for developers building the release packages themselves. You do not need it to run Lyra.
The reverse-engineering reference for the hardware is under Zune. How the platform works underneath, from the exploit to the runtime, is under Lyra runtime.
